April Fool's Day Pranks

Life is too short and you're growing older by the day...Okay, um, you can ignore the philosophical nonsense.
But seriously, this is the one day in an entire year when you can seek revenge on your friends for all kinds of silly things under the pretext of having 'innocent fun'!
Remember that time when your friend chose to go out with their boyfriend/girlfriend the day you guys were supposed to hangout? Didn't do the dishes when they were supposed to do?
Made a complete fool of you last April Fools' Day?
This is your chance to get back at them!
You have two days left to plan an epic prank, and we thought of giving you a hand with it. Here are 7 ways you can make a fool of your friends this April Fools' Day:

1. Pull a Joey

Get a different number and call your friend pretending to be an annoying stalker. Much like Joey did with Chandler. But try and do it without freaking your friend to the extent of dialing the police.

2. Pull an Ellen

If you keep an eye out for Ellen Degeneres' show, you will get a lot of prank ideas. One of her all-
time favourites is having masked/dressed up people jump out of a box at her guests.
Works wonders every time!

4. Go for the good-old spider prank

It's an old one, but it's a classic. Throw a plastic spider, snake, scorpion, etc. on your friend's shoulder or in the ice cube tray and watch the fun.

5. Make a desktop doofus

If you want to take the prank then next level, take a screen shot of your friend's desktop screen, put it up as their wallpaper, and then hide all the actual desktop icons.
While your friend thinks their computer is broken, you can have a good laugh.

6. Use the Holi power

You can always utilise those leftover Holi colours to spook your friend. Put some green or red colour in the soap dispenser just before your friend has to use it.
If you're really evil (and as long as the colour isn't harmful), you can also put it in their face wash tube.

7. Do nothing!

This is the best kind of prank out there. All you have to do is leave small notes of warning for your friend all day long, building anticipation and freaking them out.
And then, ultimately, do nothing! That will set their teeth on edge.'

April Fool's Day - The Beginning Of The Tradition

We look forward to it every year. April Fools' Day — the one day where millions of people play April Fool pranks on their friends and loved ones. After all, who hasn't passed along a Rickroll video on April 1?
April Fools' Day (sometimes called All Fools' Day) is celebrated every year on 1 April by playing practical jokes and spreading hoaxes. The jokes and their victims are called April fools. People playing April Fool jokes expose their prank by shouting April Fool. Some newspapers, magazines, and other published media report fake stories, which are usually explained the next day or below the news section in small letters. Although popular since the 19th century, the day is not a public holiday in any country.

But how did April Fools' Day start and why is April Fools' Day on April 1? History tells us that while its true origin remains somewhat of a mystery, historians theorize that the tradition dates back to 1582 when France switched from the Julian calendar to the Gregorian calendar as decreed by the Council of Trent.
Some trace the prank day's origins to 1582 after Pope Gregory XIII ordered the adoption of  Gregorian calendar which moved New Year's Day from the end of March to Jan. 1.
Those who were slow to adhere to the new calendar became the subject of ridicule and many jokes. They would often become referred to as "poisson d'avril"( April fish), someone who could be caught and was gullible.
Throughout history there have been some great April Fools' Day pranks:
On April 1, 1878, the New York Graphic ran an announcement that claimed Jersey's own Thomas Edison invented a machine that turned soil to cereal and water into wine. Newspapers nationwide ran with the story.
Sports Illustrated tricked readers in 1985 when they published an April Fools' article about Sidd Finch, a rookie pitcher who could throw a 168 mph fastball.
In 1987, Los Angeles disc jockey Steve Morris announced on KRTH-FM that California highways in Los Angeles and Orange counties would be shut down April 8-May 1 for major roadway repairs. Pandemonium ensued.
In 1996, Taco Bell freaked out the nation when they claimed that they purchased the Liberty Bell and was going to rename it. In 1998, Burger King announced their Left-Handed Whopper.
Google, who has a history of pulling April Fools' jokes, claimed in 2011, that their Gmail Motion would be able to compose a message with simple hand gestures. People completely believed it.
And just two days ago, actor Jon Lovitz and model Jessica Lowndes pulled an elaborate prank when they told everyone that they were engaged. Many media outlets had to run corrections because it was all part of an elaborate April Fools' Day prank.
We currently are approaching the April Fool's day and so we would like to present our very own collection of prank's for this special day. You can view these pranks here.

Patty Duke - Dead at 69

Patty Duke, Oscar-winning actress and the star of an eponymous TV show, died this morning, ABC News has confirmed.
According to her rep, Mitchell Stubbs, the cause of death was sepsis from a ruptured intestine.
The actress, whose real name was Anna Pearce, was 69.
"She was a wife, a mother, a grandmother, a friend, a mental health advocate and a cultural icon," Stubbs added in a statement. "She will be greatly missed."
"This morning, our beloved wife, mother, matriarch and the exquisite artist, humanitarian and champion of mental health, Anna Patty Duke, closed her eyes, quieted her pain and ascended to a beautiful place," read a family statement. "We celebrate the infinite love and compassion she shared through her work and throughout her life."

Anna Marie "Patty" Duke (December 14, 1946 – March 29, 2016) was an American actress of stage, film, and television. She first became known as a teen star, winning an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress at age 16 for her role as Helen Keller in The Miracle Worker (1962), a role which she had originated on Broadway. The following year she was given her own show, The Patty Duke Show, in which she played "identical cousins"; she later progressed to more mature roles such as that of Neely O'Hara in the film Valley of the Dolls (1967).

Duke also served as president of the Screen Actors Guild from 1985 to 1988.

Duke was diagnosed with bipolar disorder in 1982, after which she devoted much of her time to advocating for and educating the public on mental health issues. She died on March 29, 2016 of sepsis from a ruptured intestine.

Her husband, Michael Pearce, told The New York Times that she died at a hospital near her home in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, from complications of a ruptured intestine that she had suffered Thursday.
Duke received her Oscar in 1963 at age 16, then the youngest ever to win in a competitive
category. She also collected three Emmy Awards among 10 nominations during her career.
Duke's film career was sporadic, peaking with her first major production, The Miracle Worker(1962), and reaching the most attention with Valley of the Dolls (1967) where, countering her squeaky-clean image, she played a pill-popping alcoholic.
Her other films included Happy Anniversary (1959), By Design (1981), Willy/Milly (1986), The Hitch-Hikers (1989), Prelude to a Kiss (1992), Bigger Than the Sky (2005) and Amazing Love (2012), appearing opposite her son, Sean Astin of Lord of the Rings and Rudy fame.
In addition to her husband and Sean, survivors include another son, Mackenzie Astin (Andy on the 1980s sitcom The Facts of Life and a broadcast journalist on Scandal).
Duke was married from 1972 to 1985 to Addams Family star John Astin. He adopted Sean, and he and Patty had Mackenzie together.

After "The Patty Duke Show" was canceled, however, the actress sought out more adult roles. In 1967, she appeared as Neely O'Hara in "Valley of the Dolls," and in 1969, she starred in "Me, Natalie," for which she won a Golden Globe. An Emmy followed the year after, when Duke starred as a pregnant teenager in a made-for-TV movie, "My Sweet Charlie." (She also won Emmys in 1977 and 1980.) However, privately, Duke was battling bipolar disorder, for which she was diagnosed in 1982.

You can learn more about her here.
